The program consists of a classroom presentation followed by a written exam. You must score 75% on the exam to continue to the in-water training portion of the class.
The in-water portion of the class is conducted over 2 days.
The first day you will be presented with 10 mini scenarios. These include tired diver, a panicked diver at the surface, locate a missing diver, ascent with a non-responsive diver, among others. Some of these scenarios will be done multiple times to show you different possible reactions of divers in these situations.
The second day we do two large scenarios that tie all of the mini-scenarios together. Instead of handling one problem, you will conduct an entire rescue using all of the skills learned on the first day in the water.
