PADI COURSE DIRECTOR
I was first certified as a Scuba Diver in September 1973 while I was in the United States Navy, stationed in San Diego, California. In June of 1992, I moved into the professional levels of the PADI diver certifications when I was certified as a PADI Divemaster & then PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor. Since 2004 I have Held the PADI instructor rating of Course Director & In 2012 PADI awarded Silver level Course Director to me in recognition of my productivity in Instructor Development. Southern California coast is one of my favorite places to dive because of the beauty of the Kelp forest.
I was born and raised right here in Arizona. I joined the Army Reserve while still in high school and served 8 years before getting out. If I had known then what I know now I would have joined the Navy to be a Navy Diver. I had always wanted to try SCUBA diving, but for some reason never did. I finally fell into it when I was referred to a shop to buy a SCUBA tank so I could fill paintball tanks out in the field. Once I walked in the door it was over. I saw all of the gear and thought, “Oh this is so me!” I booked a Discover SCUBA experience and got my first taste of what it was like to remain underwater for an extended period of time. I was hooked.
I am the scuba baby of the bunch. I never thought becoming a diver was a possibility for me, so the thought didn’t cross my mind until a friend had me try a Discover Scuba. I was instantly in love with being under water. I became Open Water certified in 2014. The desire to increase my knowledge and to be more comfortable while diving lead me to complete the Advanced Open Water and Rescue Diver course, as well as many other PADI specialty courses. Continuing in my education and love for diving, I am now pursuing my first professional level and becoming a Dive Master.
